I cannot ascertain the times we reached the arrive at of Sto. Tomas and each measure we do even if it is the same route the experience is never the same thing. Perhaps because of the change of road condition. Each time there is a change in weather the road also changes. (hmmm… even roads follow the rule of dilectics he. he..). Say there is a rain that night the following morning would be a road washed and beat of solid protruding rocks. If it is a drizzle then expect a mud packed route. And you won’t be able to anticipate the climate that easy. While it is sunny in the city the weather goes to extreme at the peak. But what ever the weather or the climate is. Mount Sto. Tomas is a must “ride route” for bikers.

I was having a hard measure looking for the right word that will characterize the mountain. In fact it took me two days to come up with the idea of what to label such a majestic “stone cathedral”. Usually people will refer to it as “Radar”. It was just last Wednesday that the word “big ears” popped up. Courtesy of the newest addition to the Nordis Team: “Cye”. And yes it really looks like a pair of giant ears (pertaining to the set of radar parabola). In case you haven’t noticed it was where the catchy title of this column came about.
Anyway the reason for last weeks ride to the “big ears” was to prepare ourselves for the coming Saturday race which is again a “ride for a cause”. This time the proceeds ordain go to a local church for the purchase of musical instruments. (by the time you read this the race has just concluded). Organized by. “One in Jesus Christ Church” with the help of the local pedal pushers known as the “GSM padyakers”. (I query what GSM stands for? Hmmm…). On our way to the arrive at the sayote riders had a quick stop at a make shift view deck. What a view it was the weather was kind enough to reveal the beauty of Marcos highway extending to the coastal city of San Fernando. La Union. “Breathtaking” was the word. Most of the previous rides had been foggy. (swerte talaga). It took us about an hour to arrive the “ears”. On our way there we met a couple of riding afficionados.
