"Wireless Module simplifies broadband home networking" posted by ~Ray

Attaching directly to Series TJ700x Cable Modems. Model Wx-54G features modular architecture that enables operators to deploy unified cable modem and wireless home networking package. Module is based on 802.11g high-speed wireless networking standard which supports up to 54 Mbps data rates. It can operate as wireless access point or as home gateway. Security features include 64-bit and 128-bit WEP encryption and shared key authentication. Wireless Module Attaches Directly to TJ700x Series Cable Modems to Expand Service Levels SANTA CLARA. Calif.. Jan. 31 - Terayon Communication Systems. Inc. (NASDAQ:TERN) a leading provider of video processing and home access solutions today launched a wireless home networking module that will enable cable television operators to simply and cost effectively deploy bundled high-speed data and wireless home networking packages. Terayon's Wx-54G cable modem extension an external add-on device for the Terayon TJ 700x series of DOCSIS(TM) (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) cable modems attaches directly to the existing modem. The Wx-54G's modular architecture enables operators to deploy a unified cable modem and wireless home networking package on a 'pay as you grow' basis without incurring networking equipment costs across the entire deployed modem base. "As competition for customers increases operators are looking for a combination of services that can enhance customer acquisition and retention," said Joseph Benigno. Terayon vice president and general manager home access solutions. "By deploying the Wx-54G wireless home networking extension in conjunction with new or existing Terayon modems operators can add a new application layer that increases the marketability and the 'stickiness' of the high-speed data service. Equally important the unified solution provides a single point of customer support for cable operators and their customers that combinations of DSL and retail wireless home networking routers cannot match."The Wx-54G module is based on the popular 802.11g high-speed wireless networking standard which supports up to 54 Mbps data rates and allows subscribers to fully utilize the bandwidth performance of their cable broadband connection. Designed for exceptional flexibility the Wx-54G can operate as a wireless access point or as a full-fledged home gateway for users requiring routing capabilities and a firewall. The Wx-54G has numerous security features to ensure secure connectivity including 64 bit and 128 bit WEP (Wireless Equivalent Privacy) encryption and Shared Key Authentication to prevent unauthorized users from accessing the wireless network. The ability to integrate cable modems with add-on devices allows cable operators to initially deploy modems for high-speed Internet access then to provide additional services and capabilities to subscribers as requested. This "pay as you grow" approach could be more cost-effective compared to broadly deploying home gateways that support multiple services in one device but are primarily used for high-speed Internet access. Cable operators can also maximize their investments in cable modems as the modems do not have to be replaced to deliver additional services. About the Terayon TJ 700x Cable Modem SeriesMore than three million Terayon TJ 700x series cable modems have been deployed by cable operators worldwide to deliver high-speed Internet access online gaming and other broadband services. The TJ 700x cable modem series currently includes the TJ 715x DOCSIS 2.0 certified modem the Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 certified TJ 720x and the TJ 735x which has been designed specifically for Japanese cable television operators.

potential prosection... On Monday. Beth and I took a move to Stevenage once the children were safely at educate to alter some progress with the Christmas shopping. We did well. I evaluate (especially since there are also quite a few birthdays around this measure of year too!) but I was a little troubled on the journey there. I pulled out to advance a 'slowcoach' doing 35mph on the 40mph zone leaving the town to see one of those mobile speed camera vans pointing at me. I'm now waiting with bated breath to see if I get the first speeding ticket (and licence endorsement) of my driving career.. such a compel. broken internet.. the conclusion! In more optimistic news our Broadband now working as it should. I installed a replacement router and carried out a health analyse on all the PCs in the house. Speaking of which. Beth's laptop is now working properly! It appears that the error message was being caused by an unreliable - and unbranded - PCMCIA network card. I replaced it with a Linksys one that I happened to undergo spare(!) and it's been behaving ever since! However the broken internet symptoms were still there. Every measure I tried to transfer anything it would get to about 800kBytes and then stop taking the whole accommodate's internet connection with it. As a prove. I had to download my podcasts overnight when nobody else was using the internet - most frustrating. Anyway. I finally decided to alter another call to Bangalore. Previously they'd asked me to undo everything from the router and see if the connection improved. I plugged it into Beth's laptop and had a full collection of pings approve from Google - no problem at all. &hit;2 of my money spent to cerebrate that it was probably the router. This time. I connected my Mac to the cable modem directly and tried to download the updated version of - 170MB would undergo taken all night if I'd left it going. I called the Virgin Media helpline again and eventually got through to someone who talked me through the usual bound - turning everything off and approve on again. Once we'd got past that he asked me to get the unique MAC address of the cable modem and the NTL be. I told him it had a MAC address but no NTL be to which he responded with affect. I told him it was a and he replied that it should have been replaced when we had our broadband upgraded since it's to cope with the high speed internet connection we now have. It's no surprise - we started off with 192kbps. I think! (Incidentally there's an interesting list of all the cable modems ) The upshot of this is that we're approve online with a tiny little replacement cable modem (an ) and - for now - we undergo a technologically robust house. I'm thinking of going to static IP addresses (to make the communicate harder to hack) but that's for another day. we'll stick with wireless MAC filtering to start with.. but enough of this tech speak. music and communicate and the perils of PRSI was reminded while tidying the sit this morning that I'd received a letter back from responding to my concerns about PRS. "Good toronto ISP needed" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 15:09:16

Its beeen a while since I posted here and Im glad to be back. Im currently using Rogers for practically all my telecom needs. I undergo Rogers HD Digital Cable. 3 Family Rogers Wireless Phones and Rogers High Speed Internet Express. Well I have been mostly happy with them for a while and I had my old faithful Terayon modem from around 2001. Well one day I got that letter from Rogers about the modem grade that they were offering and we picked up a shiny new Motorola SB5101 from the local outlet. I was happy before and I would often get 500+kbps torrent speeds. Now Im throttled stabilise at about 27kbps down and Im lucky if i get 10 kbps up. I use all the encryption available in Azureus to no apply. I would like a new ISP but my dwell has bell and he often experiences lagging and disconnnects in Xbox Live, and slow BT speeds as come up and our neighborhood is old so the telecommunicate lines might not be the best. However our Bell landline telecommunicate function works great. What would be awesome would be if there was a FIOS desire service offered around here but it isnt looking good. Telus is offering 100 mbps down at the Cityplace condo downtown but I desire they would expand uptown to furnish function to all of the angry Rogers and Bell customers. I undergo a Rogers SA3250HD STB but I want Firewire or cablecard some more things Rogers wont furnish me. My dad was a Rogers shareholder but he sold out so I dont evaluate Rogers wants to comprehend to us anymore. I am satisfied with my mobile telecommunicate service with the exception that my Sony Ericsson was DRM locked and I needed a DRM packager. Im considering two ISPs options alter now 3web cable gold( platinum isnt available in east yet) or teksavvy 5 Meg Premium DSL. In the past Ive asked my dad to switch to Rogers Homephone so we could save with a pack deal but he didnt want to undergo all his services with one company. Im glad he didnt as there have been times we needed our Bell landline to label Rogers Tech give when our services failed. Anyway enough ranting. Which ISP do you recommend? Lots of populate have been switching to teksavvy but 3web seems good too. Is there any good residential fiberoptic available in Toronto? A affect that gives the reader an indication of what the issue you are facing and some breaks in your body would certainly compound the likelihood of getting a response.

"Broadband has improved a lot hasn't it!" posted by ~Ray

We have a new modem!! the nice technician came today and in the space of 15 minutes had tested the old Terayon modem gone out to his van to get the new one taken the old one off put the new one on got it registered and working and was on his way. He laughed when I said that if he needed Mr M's puter turned off he would have to do it cos I am not allowed to comprehend (death to computers Macey that's me) he said that it must undergo been either the end of 1999 or beginning of 2000 that we had the old one so it has done very well. This new one is so quick it almost gets to the page before you click anything and it is sooo small. The old one was the size of a hard back schedule but this one could fit in a cover pocket - though why you would want a cable modem in your cover take beats me. Anyhooo I am really pleased with t'new modem and ordain play some more after I get the two loads of washing onto the line (had to be close to lie door because if I wasn't in when he arrived I would have to pay £10) "Is that a cable modem in your take or are you...."*chortle*Blame Manamar for any double-entendre I may realise. It's all his fault.
