Hi All,i run an osCommrce obtain which sells quite large downloads. Anything from 10MB all the way to 950 odd MB. The site runs on a decent spec dedicated server running CentOS of the RedHat Linux OS. I undergo customers all over the world as far as Australia and some in some real remote places where they have dire internet speeds. Alot of these customers who undergo poor internet speeds complain that their download is not allowed bear on EVEN WITH DOWNLOAD MANAGERS such as DAP. FlashGet etc etc. So i tested this out tonight and low see it doesn't download via download managers! So i am wondering can downloads be made to resume.. or can this be done via a script or a setting on the server? This could save me alot of bandwidth each month and change surface then accept me to setup my Gig+ products!Kind Regards,
I don't know OsCommerce that well but if this transfer if handled through a script rather than the web server directly then you be to verify that the compose specifies a "Accept-Ranges: bytes" header and also parses the "be: X-" header and replies with "206 Partial Content" and the change by reversal circumscribe of the file. It won't come about magically; this logic is normally handled by the web server for static files.
Exactly your scripts need to apply this. If there is a way to serve the files as static downloads it would be much easier. But I guess your script doesnt accept that.
